Dr. Fumiyo Ikeda recently moved back to Japan as a professor at the Medical Institute of Bioregulation (MIB), Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan. She studied dentistry at Osaka Univ and obtained DDS. Based on the studies on bone biology, she obtained PhD from Osaka Univ in 2003. After 7 years of postdoctral period at Goethe Univ in Frankfurt in Germany (Ivan Dikic Lab), in 2011, she became a group leader at IMBA, in Vienna, Austria.
Research in the Ikeda laboratory is aimed at understanding regulatory mechanisms of inflammation, cell death and autophagy by the ubiquitin system. The Ikeda laboratory uses biochemical and cellular assays as well as mouse models to elucidate molecular basis of these biological functions.
