    Gabrielle Belz originally trained in Veterinary medicine and surgery and received her PhD from the University of Queensland. She completed her postdoctoral training with Nobel Laureate Peter Doherty after receiving a NHMRC CJ Martin Fellowship to work on viral infections. Her research contributions have been recognized by a number of awards including a Wellcome Trust Overseas Fellowship, HHMI international fellowship, ARC Future fellowship, NHMRC Senior Principal Research Fellowship, Doctorate of Veterinary Science and the Gottschalk Medal (Australian Academy of Science). Currently, she leads a research team that focuses on deciphering the key cellular and transcriptional signals used by naïve and memory T cells in infections and in understanding how innate immune cells develop and contribute to protection against infections. During this time she has been Editor-in-Chief of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Immunology journal Immunology and Cell Biology and the sister journal Clinical and Translational Immunology and is currently a Deputy Editor at the Journal of Immunology for the American Association of Immunology.
