Dr. Manju Jain leads Immunobiology laboratory at Central University of Punjab, India. She did her doctoral study in the area of host-pathogen interaction at Jawaharlal Nehru University with postdoctoral training in the area of thymus biology at MD Anderson Cancer Centre. Her research group is working towards understanding disease-biology associated with a dysfunctional T cell Immunity with a focus on origin and mechanism of T cell defects in periphery and/or thymus. The disease models of interest spans infectious diseases, autoimmune diseases, neuronal diseases and different pathophysiological conditions viz Cancers and Aging. Ongoing projects in the laboratory include the infectious disease Leishmaniasis and the autoimmune disease Psoriasis. Dissecting out changes in thymus functionality along with nature and mechanism of peripheral T cell changes can help in understanding immune-etiology of specific diseases. Long term goal of our research group is to understand the T cell defects in these diseases and come up with knowledge driven strategies for immune-reconstitution and immune-therapeutics.
